Scholarship Description: Boren Fellowships provide up to $30,000 to U.S. graduate students to add an important international and language component to their graduate education through specialization in area study, language study, or increased language proficiency. Boren Fellowships support study and research in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded. Boren Fellowships provide American graduate students, both at the master’s and the doctoral level, with the resources and encouragement they need to acquire skills and experiences in areas of the world critical to the future security of our nation, in exchange for their commitment to seek work in the federal government. Boren Fellowships provide support for overseas or domestic study, or a combination of both. The maximum level of support for a combined overseas and domestic program is $30,000 over 24 months.

Who may apply?
In South Africa Applicants must reside in South Africa and be employed researchers at a recognized higher education or research institution such as a university, university of technology, national facility, museum or science council. Applications must designate the primary Swiss counterpart in collaboration with who joint research or networking is to be undertaken. The Principal Investigators will bear responsibility for the project, including its technical and administrative coordination as well as scientific and financial reporting. Applicants should be in possession of at least a Masters degree (preferably PhD) in order to apply under this programme. The application should not be submitted through an industry/business partner. All applications must be directed through the research office or the NRF Designated Authority. Only one application per applicant will be accommodated. Any incomplete application will be automatically disqualified. The industry
partner under this programmer for the SA applicant must be affiliated to a registered South African company. Relevant business, registration or financial of the industry partner may be requested at any time.

Journey of road stands for journey of life. This poem is full of symbolic. People should walk from morning to night to reach in uphill. The road is not straight and it has many turning {wind}. We are alone on the way because there are many passerbies. When we reach in uphill, we get resting place. In Uphill many people have already reached.

Journey of Life:

Journey of road means journey of life. We should walk morning to evening to reach uphill. It means that life is full of struggle. Each and everybody should do struggle from birth to death. So, morning stands for birth and evening stands for death. Similarly, uphill stands for heaven

Meanings:

1.     Metaphor             : comparism between two dissimilar object

2.     Simile                   : Comparism between two dissimilar object by using “Like” Or “As”

3.     Example               : My beloved is a buffalo; my beloved is like a buffalo.

Message Of Uphill

The message of Uphill is that life is full of struggle and struggle starts from birth and ends in death. When we get death, our struggle will be finished and we go in heaven. Main Points:

King is a Negro and he shows various problems of black people while staying in America. On the day of Lincoln Memorial, he gare speech in Washington D.C. He says that they got cheque before hundreds years but they had not exchange it. He says us that in America, there is not slavery system but there is still police problem, racial discrimination, injustice, inequality, lack of job opportunity etc.

King requests al black people to do revolution and movement in peaceful way. According to king, black should not do violence because whites are their brother and the citizen of America. Black never got chance to enter in hotel and motel. Similarly police gives punishment without any mistake. They have to do low post job and good payment job would be done by whites. Finally, Luther king hopes that black will get all types of freedom and white will understand blacks problems then blacks and white will walk handshaking each-other. That is his great dream.
